Castrum Marinum
The second trial of the Sorrow of Werlyt questline, featuring the Emerald Weapon—a Garlean warmachina with devastating blade and laser attacks.
Emerald Weapon
Phase 1
| Mechanic | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Emerald Shot | Tankbuster | Multi-hit tankbuster that opens the fight. Use mitigation for consecutive hits. |
| Optimized Ultima | Raidwide | Unavoidable raid-wide damage. Healers prepare group healing. |
| Emerald Beam | AoE | Boss spins clockwise with front/rear cone AoEs while pulsing circle AoEs expand outward. Zigzag while running clockwise to avoid both mechanics simultaneously. |
| Magitek Magnetism | AoE | Two mines appear with positive (+) or negative (-) charges. Same charges repel; opposite charges attract. Position based on anticipated mine movement before detonation. |
| Sidescathe | Cleave | Hits half the arena. Dodge by standing on the side without the glowing wing. |
| Split | Knockback | Boss sheds legs with pushback effect. Position carefully to avoid falling off arena edges. |
| Divide Et Impera | Tankbuster / Raidwide | Hits the tank first, then everyone else. Spacing required between tank and party. |
Notes: For Emerald Beam, run clockwise and weave between the expanding circles. The magnet mechanic requires quick identification of charge polarity.
Phase 2
| Mechanic | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Phase Transition | AoE | Cutscene plays and arena changes. The new arena no longer has fatal edges. |
| Checkpoint | AoE | If the party wipes after Phase 2 starts, you restart from Phase 2, not Phase 1. |
| Tertius Terminus Est | AoE | Large X-shaped AoE markers. Avoid the marked zones. |
| Primus/Secundus Terminus Est | AoE | Sequential AoE attacks requiring movement between safe zones. |
| Legio Phantasmatis | Adds | Phantom soldiers spawn and attack. Handle adds while avoiding ground AoEs. |
Notes: Phase 2 is more forgiving due to the arena change. Focus on learning the Terminus Est patterns.
