The Second Coil of Bahamut - Turn 1
The first turn of the Second Coil pits adventurers against Rafflesia, a massive carnivorous plant with complex phase-based mechanics involving slimes and briars.
Rafflesia
A two-phase fight with overlapping mechanics that require precise coordination.
Phase 1 (100% - 70%)
Rotation: Thorn Whip → Bulbs → Thorn Whip → Devour/Spit → Repeat
| Mechanic | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Bloody Caress | Tankbuster | Tank swap mechanic - switch tanks at 3 stacks of Vulnerability |
| Thorn Whip | Spread | Tethers two or more players - break tethers by moving apart |
| Dark Matter Bulb | Adds | Spawns in one of eight locations, creates briar patches |
| Devour/Spit | AoE | Suction cone targeting yellow-marked player |
| Blighted Bouquet | Raidwide | Taking ANY action near cast end kills you - stop all actions |
Thorn Whip Strategy
- Players get tethered together
- Stack close initially to make breaking easier
- Then move apart to break the tethers
Devour/Spit Strategy
- Yellow marker appears on a player
- Don’t stand between the marked player and Rafflesia
- Being pulled in grants the boss permanent damage up
- Use briar patches to block the suction
Phase 2 (70% - 40%)
Rotation: Bulbs → Thorn Whip → Devour/Spit → Honey → Repeat
| Mechanic | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Honey/Dark Matter Bee | Adds | One player becomes “Honey Glazed” attracting bees |
| Briar Priority | AoE | Only NEWEST bulb briars can block Devour - old briars don’t work |
Honey Glazed Strategy:
- The debuffed player attracts all bees
- Bees attack only the Honey Glazed player until they die
- If the player dies, Honey reapplies to someone else
- Healers must keep the Honey Glazed player alive
Notes:
- In Phase 2, you can only use briars from the newest bulbs for Devour
- Old briars from Phase 1 or earlier Phase 2 won’t block the mechanic
- Coordinate briar placement carefully
- Tank swap at 3 stacks throughout the fight
