Asphodelos: The Second Circle
The second encounter of the Pandaemonium raid series. Hippokampos, a mythic creation taking the form of a water serpent, must be defeated in an arena where the walls mean instant death.
Hippokampos
A water-themed fight that introduces arena flooding mechanics and teaches players to manage knockbacks and positioning.
Key Mechanics
| Mechanic | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Murky Depths | Raidwide | Moderate party-wide damage - shield and heal through |
| Doubled Impact | Tankbuster | Shared tankbuster on MT - both tanks stack together with cooldowns |
| Sewage Deluge | Raidwide | Massive damage that floods the arena. Only raised platforms and drains are safe - standing in water applies Dropsy DoT |
| Shockwave | Knockback | Marks one platform with knockback marker. Boss leaps there and knocks players back - position to avoid being pushed into walls |
| Spoken Cataract | Cleave | Boss’s detached head does a half-room cleave while body does a line AoE. Watch both the head and body positions |
| Dissociation | AoE | Boss removes its head, which appears at arena edge and dashes across. Move out of the path |
| Tainted Flood | Spread | Places marked AoEs on players - spread apart to avoid overlapping |
| Predatory Sight | Stack | All players marked with triangle stack markers - must stack with at least one other player or take heavy damage |
Arena Flooding (Sewage Deluge)
The signature mechanic of this fight:
- Massive raidwide damage hits the party
- Arena floods - standing in water applies Dropsy DoT
- Only safe spots: Raised platforms and drain grates
- Position early to avoid scrambling during the flood phase
Dissociation + Cataract
This combination requires watching multiple elements:
- Head detaches and appears at arena edge
- Watch head facing - it will dash across that direction
- Body performs cataract - avoid the line AoE
- Find the safe zone that avoids both the head’s dash path and the body’s attack
Tips
- The arena walls instantly kill - never get knocked into them
- For Doubled Impact, both tanks must stack and use cooldowns
- During Predatory Sight, pair up quickly - being alone means heavy damage
- Watch the boss’s head position during Dissociation for the dash direction
- Healers prepare heavy healing for Sewage Deluge as it hits hard
