Abyssos: The Sixth Circle
The second encounter of the Abyssos raid tier. Hegemone, a hemitheos creature, fights in an arena divided into sixteen squares that serve as positioning guides for her complex mechanics.
Hegemone
A technical fight featuring grid-based positioning, infection mechanics, and conal attacks that require careful observation of the boss’s orientation.
Key Mechanics
| Mechanic | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Hemitheos’s Dark IV | Raidwide | Party-wide magic damage - shield and heal |
| Synergy | Tankbuster | Individual tankbusters on both tanks - both need cooldowns |
| Aetheric Polyominoid | AoE | Spikes at intercardinals shoot AoEs toward certain squares - avoid marked squares |
| Choros Ixou | Cleave | Boss’s hands light up in cardinal or intercardinal directions - conal AoEs in those directions |
| Transmission | Spread | Infects four players with Glossomorph debuff. When it expires, players freeze and fire a cone in their facing direction |
| Dark Ashes | Spread | Places AoE markers on all party members - spread apart |
| Strophe Ixou | Cleave | Conal AoEs from front and back of boss that rotate in indicated directions |
| Pathogenic Cells | AoE | Grid squares become dangerous - watch for telegraph patterns |
Aetheric Polyominoid (Grid Mechanic)
The core positioning mechanic:
- Spikes appear at intercardinal positions
- Lines indicate which squares will be hit
- Later variant (Aetheric Sigma): Staves swap impact zones with tethered staves right before resolution
- Watch the telegraphs and stand on safe squares
Transmission (Infection Mechanic)
A two-part mechanic requiring coordination:
- First group (4 players) gets Glossomorph debuff
- When debuff expires, players freeze in place and fire a conal AoE in their facing direction
- Turn away from party to avoid cleaving allies
- Second group gets infected as first resolves
- Both groups must point their cones safely
Choros Ixou (Hand Mechanic)
Watch the boss’s hands:
- Hands glow toward cardinal or intercardinal directions
- Conal AoEs fire in those directions
- Check the boss’s target circle orientation to determine safe spots
- Move to positions not covered by the hand indicators
Tips
- Use the 16-square grid for precise positioning
- For Transmission, face outward or toward walls when frozen
- Track hand positions for Choros Ixou safe spots
- Tanks should spread for individual tankbusters
- Watch for staff tethers that swap AoE positions
- The grid layout makes positioning predictable once learned
